Barns Green Tennis Club
The club was founded in 1982 and originally members played their tennis on the courts at Muntham School. In 1985 the present courts and car park were built with the agreement of the Village Trust who own the land, and with grant aid from Horsham District Council (who apportioned monies donated by Tesco when the store at Broadbridge Heath was built), together with monies from The Sports Council and a small donation from Kleinwort Benson. A year or so later, the clubhouse was erected by the members who moved it from its original location at Coolham.
Since that time the club and courts have been maintained by a small committee who have carried out the grass cutting, hedging and court preparation for some 30 years. The courts have been overtopped on two occasions with a resin application to lengthen their working life giving their green appearance.
Individual or family membership is available at a very reasonable cost and anyone interested should contact the secretary, Monica Hargrave on 730024 or Jane Marsh on 780372, the membership secretary if you would like to join.
