It’s hard to believe that Barns Green football club have been affiliated to the English Football association for over a century, becoming a member in 1904. In the subsequent year’s that have followed managers, players and characters associated with the club have come and gone. But all of them have left a legacy that will live on with the club and the village alike for years to come.

The club are currently running two teams with a good mix of young guns, some of which have progressed through the village youth team, too those wise old(er) players who have been around longer than they would care to admit to the younger players. We have some ambitious task over the next few years, the biggest objective being to progress both teams out of their respective divisions and to bring some of the glory back to the village.

One or other of our teams are at home on a Saturday afternoon throughout the season, and welcome any support, besides you can’t beat sitting on the Social Club terrace watching a game of football, with a beer in hand and if the weather does turn inclement then you can always go inside and watch from the executive box with panoramic views of the game.

We are currently active in raising funds as part of the clubs contribution towards a future grant application, in which it is hoped that the field drainage will be re-established and that our aging changing facilities can be bought into the 21st century, facilities which all our sports clubs - rugby, cricket, stool-ball can be proud of.

And finally if you know anyone that wishes to get involved in the football club, albeit playing, fund raising, kit washing (paid) then please give the secretary a call on 07799 291856 or e-mail  the football club by clicking on the button.
